Research

Jonathan Smallwood earned his BA (1996) and Ph.D (2002) from The University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, Scotland. Over the last 15 years he has researched the phenomenon of spontaneous, internally generated thought.  Everyday examples of this are the experience of mind-wandering and/or daydreaming.  Jonny is currently a Senior Researcher in the Department of Social Neuroscience in the Max Planck Institute for Human Cognitive and Brain Sciences, Leipzig, Germany.
